Fresh Violence Erupts BTAD: Farmer Killed in Kokrajhar

Guwahati, November 12: Fresh violence erupted the situation again in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), when a farmer was killed by miscreants in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Monday.

The incident took place at Bhumka area under Gosaigaon sub-division in the district, where a farmer was shot dead by miscreants.

The deceased farmer was identified as Ali Hussain.

“Miscreants killed the farmer, when he was busy in his paddy field,” a top police official said.

It was the third incident that three people were killed by miscreants in three days.

Meanwhile, police arrested 15 persons, suspected in connection with the incidents.

“We picked up 15 persons suspected in the involvement of the incidents,” the official said.

District administration has sounded high alert in Kokrajhar district after the incidents.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi ordered the district administration and Assam police to take necessary action against the persons, who were trying to unsettle the situation in BTAD.

At least 39,000 people are still in relief camps in Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Chirang district, who were displaced in the recent violence in BTAD, where at laest 80 people were killed.
