Five Injured in a Demonstration in Guwahati

At least five protesters and supporters of Team Anna, and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee leader Akhil Gogoi were injured in a lathi charge by police when they blocked the NH-37 in Guwahati on Thursday.

According to reports, the police resorted to a lathi charge on hundreds of supporters of KMSS, when they blocked the NH-37 in Guwahati, in a protest against the forced admission of Akhil Gogoi to hospital.

During the baton charge by police, five protesters were injured and they were rushed to hospital.

The Team Anna member is on hunger strike demanding a halt on the construction of the 2000 MW Lower Subansiri mega dam project on Thursday.

A KMSS leader alleged that Akhil was forcefully removed from his hunger strike ground at Lakhidhar Bora Khetra in Guwahati by the police on Wednesday night and he was admitted in Guwahati Medical College hospital.

Meanwhile, Team Anna gave their support to the KMSS movement protest against the construction of the mega dam project in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
