A major fire broke out at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam’s Golaghat district on Friday morning, officials said.
There were no reports of casualties in the fire.
The fire broke out at one of the crude distillation units (CDU) of the refinery around 5:30 am on Friday and later firefighters controlled the fire.
“There were no casualties recorded in the major incident,” a NRL official said.
Meanwhile, the NRL authorities have formed a high level inquiry committee to ascertain the cause of the fire and to estimate the damage.
The NRL was established in 2001 having a capacity of 3 MMT.
