Ethnic Violence Now Calm After Intevention From Assam Government

The Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday reported that the situation of ethnic violence in lower Assam is now under control.

During his visit to Kokrajhar district, addressing a press conference, the Assam CM said the overall situation is now under control. Army and para military forces were deployed in most of places in the affected districts.

“We have taken measures to tackle the situation,” the Assam CM said.

Meanwhile, clashes between ethnic tribe bodo and minority immigrants have continued in four district in lower Assam and death toll rose to 44 on Thursday, officials said.

Body of an unidentified youth was found in Gauranga river on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a government official was attacked by people at a relief camp in Baska district.

Nearly two lakh people had taken shelter at 125 relief camps in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri district.

Meanwhile, police arrested two persons named Atul Ramchiary and Mahesh Ramchiary from Musalpur area in Baska district, alleged to be involved in clash.

National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive) urged the union government to intervene into the present situation and deployed more security forces in every nook and corner of the sensitive areas.
