Eight Militants Apprehended in Assam

Guwahati, July 10: Security forces apprehended seven hardcore militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and a cadre of the anti-talk faction group of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Assam on Tuesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, security forces nabbed seven NDFB militants in Udalguri district and recovered a huge cache of arms-ammunition.

“A joint team of army and police launched a search operation at the Bhutiachang area under the Paneri police station in the district along with India-Bhutan border on the wee hours of Tuesday and arrested the militants,” a senior police official said.

Security forces recovered 9 nos hand grenades, two assault rifles and ammunition from their possession.

Also, police arrested a ULFA militant during a search operation at Tutulapara area in Baska district.

The nabbed militant was identified as Dhanjit Rabha and police recovered one 9mm pistol with two magazines and ammunition from his possession.
