The main opposition party of India Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday demanded imposition of President’s rule in Assam where security and order situation is deteriorating in the state.
During a press conference held in Guwahati on Wednesday, BJP’s national general secretary Kiran Maheswari and MP Bijoya Chakrawarty demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state as the state government has failed to maintain law and order situation of the ongoing ethnic clash in BTAD area, where at least 38 people were killed and over 1,70,000 people were homeless.
“The Chief Minister and Home minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi and its government failed to maintain law and order situation in the state. The state government failed in tackling the communal riots in Kokrajhar, Chirang and other districts of lower Assam,” Kiran Maheswari said.
The BJP party has visited the trouble torn areas of Chirang district on Tuesday and found many lapses from the state government side.
The Party added that The SDO (civil) of Bijni sub-division told them about the shortage of security personnel to control the overall situation.
BJP’s Mp Bijoya Chakrawarty said victims compalained about their insecurity and relief materials.
Meanwhile, the BJP leaders of Assam unit claimed that Islamic fundamental elements were involed in the ethnic clash.
On Tuesday, BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary claimed that migrants of Bangladesh were causing the ethnic clashes.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the ethnic clash rise to 41.
