The fresh violence that erupted in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Sunday has injured at least four people including a child when miscreants attacked them while they were returning home from relief camp, officials said.
The incident took place at Salakati railway station road in the district under BTAD.
The injured persons were identified as Phulbanu Begam, Samiran Khatun, Manuwara Bibi and Mahiruddin Mandal. They were admitted to Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon civil hospital.
On 25th of August, five people were killed by miscreants in Chirang district.
Meanwhile, a body was found in Chirang district on Sunday.
Indefinite curfew was imposed in Chirang district.
Meanwhile, several people of relief camps and organizations have blocked the national highway in Chirang district on Sunday and demanded a Presidential rule in Assam as violence continue to escalate.
“We are not safe as the state government has forced to release the people from the camps where there is no sufficient security in villages,” Abdul Malek said.
The Assam Chief Minister on Sunday instructed the security forces and administrations to took stern action against miscreants after five people were killed in Chirang district.
A group of ministers of state government comprised by Forest minister Rockybul Hussain, Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Power minister Pradyut Bordoloi, Transport minister Chandan Brahma and MLA Dr Bhumidhar Barman rushed to the strife-torn areas.
