Hardcore NSLA militant Arrested

Security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district captured a hardcore NSLA militant, according to local officials.

A defence spokesman based in Guwahati, Assam said a tip-off led a combined force of army and police to launch a joint operation in the Gomna area of the BTAD district. They located and arrested the militant.

The arrested man was identified as Lakhiram Kisku, and he used a number of aliases. Kisku was the area commander of the outfit group and his aliases included Surya and Mathiyas.

“The terrorist is suspected to be involved in stealing weapons from Sapkata police station and in killing of Siblal Murmu, then commander-in-chief of ceasefire group Santhal Tiger Force (STF) in 2013,” the defence spokesman said.

Security forces recovered a factory made 7.62mm pistol, several rounds of ammunition and other war like stores from him.
