Assam Police Recover Grenade Launcher, 12 Shells

Guwahati, January 19: Security forces arrested two persons including a hardcore cadre of the anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and recovered one hand grenade launcher and 12 nos of grenade shells in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Assam police led by Sonitpur district police DSP Gitanjalee Doley had launched a search operation near Koliabhumura bridge of Brahmaputra r

River and recovered the arms from a Maruti Alto car (AS-05-B-7187).

“The arms were procuring from Dimapur of Nagaland,” a top police official said.

Police seized the car, which was on the way to Barpeta Road from Dimapur and recovered the arms,” police said.

Security forces arrested two persons including a NDFB cadre named Bipul Khaklari.

The other arrested person was identified as Chandradhar Bora, who was an Ex home guard.

Police has interrogated the arrested persons for collecting more information.
