Assam Government to Launch a ‘News Channel’

The Assam Government will launch its own “news channel” to broadcast its accomplishments and good service to its people through daily news.

During a press conference held in Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the state government has decided to run a new “news channel” because he said, on various occasions, the actual picture of development works done by the state government was totally censored by media.

Mr. Gogoi added that media have presented bad images of the government.

“The actual picture could not be delivered to the people of Assam,” Gogoi said.

However much good work has been done, there was negative publicity in the media, Mr. Gogoi pointed out.

He said it is necessary to recognize the good works of the Assam government.

The government decided to launch its own channel which will broadcast the good works and deliver the actual message, and activities of the government.

Assam’s Chief Minister has also accused the media of tarnishing its good image by presenting unpleasant news against the government.
