ASEAN-India Car Rally Ends in Guwahati

Guwahati, December 17: The second ASEAN-India car rally 2012 ended in Guwahati on Monday with a colourful function.

124 participants of 11 countries in 31 vehicles, who covered 8000 kms of nine countries in 22 days.

The Assam state government welcomed the participants and other guests including Commerce ministers and ambassadors of ASEAN countries during the flag down ceremonial function held in Guwahati on Monday.

Union Minister of State for Industry and Commerce D. Purandeswari was also present at the flag down ceremony at the Sarusojai stadium, Guwahati.

“The rally will promote not only friendship, goodwill but also business and trade,” Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said.

The car rally was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and CII and started from Yogyakarta of Indonesia on November 26.

The first edition of ASEAN-India car rally started in Guwahati in 2004.
