Arunachal CM Seeks Support From EU For Development Fund

After objection raised by China, the Arunachal Pradesh government has sought support from the European Union (EU) to support requested development fund from the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) to the hill state, officials said.

On Saturday during the visit of eight European countries ambassadors to the state, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki sought support from the EU for WB, ADB development fund to the state.

“We already submitted proposals for the development fund to WB and ADB. However, after China raised objection, those proposals were rejected,” Arunachal CM said.

Reports say the annual budget of the state around Rs 3000 crore and it fully depends on the union government.

“For development in the state, we need more funds,” he said.

The WB and ADB released their development funds to other states in the north east region. However, the Arunachal Pradesh government could not receive any funds from WB or ADB.

A meeting was held between the EU diplomats and the Arunachal CM along with ministers and government officials in Itanagar on Saturday.
