Another Team Anna Member Attacked in India

Newsblaze, New Delhi: Just a week after Prashant Bhushan was attacked in the Supreme Court, another Team Anna member, Arvind Kejriwal was attacked in a public meeting at Jhulelal Park in Lucknow on Tuesday evening.

Reports said a man who was identified as Jitndra Pathak of Jalaun was caught by volunteers after he tried to assault Kejriwal by hurling a shoe at him.

The man said when asked by the media why he hurled the shoe, that Kejriwal was misleading the public on the issue of corruption and that he had no personal grudge against Kejriwal.

He also claimed that he didn’t belong to any political party.

Anti corruption activist Anna Hazare reacting to the attack, said his team is ready to face bullets to eradicate corruption. “I am also planning a trip to Lucknow to raise people’s awareness about corruption.”

Anna Hazare is an Indian social activist and a prominent leader in the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement, using nonviolent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Hazare also contributed to the development and structuring of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan-the third-highest civilian award-by the Government of India in 1992 for his efforts in establishing this village as a model for others.”
