Amid Clashes in Indian Kashmir, Muslims Across India Celebrate ‘Eid-ul-Adha’

Indian Administrated Kashmir: Eid-ul-Adha, the festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated across the India with full enthusiasm.

In Kashmir Valley, scores of people, including top police officials, were injured after clashes erupted between groups of youth and government forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag town, soon after the Eid congregational prayers were over.

On the day of “Eid-ul-Adha” Muslims sacrifice their domestic animals such as goats, sheeps, cows, camels, etc. to commemorate the willingness of the Holy Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail as an act of obedience to God.

Wearing new dresses, Muslims in every part of India, flocked to Idgahs and Mosques to offer special Eid prayers.

Reports stated that special Eid prayers were led by Maulana Ahmad Bukhari, Mufti Mukarram and Syed Mohsin Taqavi and were held at the historic Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid, Masjid-e-Shiian at Kashmiri Gate and Idgah.

In their addresses, the prayer Leaders while congratulating the fellow citizens on the auspicious occasion, said: ‘We offer our greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens. Let us resolve to work together for peace, brotherhood, happiness and in a spirit of unity for the good of the nation’.

For the whole day Muslims were seen greeting each other with well wishes for the festival along with the meat of the slaughtered animals, they also spent time with their loved ones to spread love and happiness all around.

Meanwhile, India’s President, Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice President Hamid Ansari and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi greeted the countrymen on the occasion.

Amid the clashes in Indian Kashmir, “Eid-ul-Adha” was a huge success.
