4 Dead as Storm Lashes Upper Assam

Guwahati, May 14: At least four people, including a women and a child died and 10 others injured when a devastating storm lashed Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Monday evening, police said.

“The storm lashed the district on Monday evening leaving four people dead in the worst-hit areas of Dirak Rangajan, Doomdoma,” a police official said.

In the Dirak Rangajan area, two people died and the deceased were identified as Ranjit Mura and Sushil Mura.

At least 15 villages were ravaged in the storm.

In the Doomdoma area in the same district a child named Bikash Lakua and a woman died in the devastating storm.

Over 100 families are now homeless after the storm.

Top district administration officials rushed to the affected areas to assess the damages.
