American-Turkish Council To Host Annual Conference on US-Turkey Relations

The American-Turkish Council is hosting what it says is the largest annual gathering of public officials and private business people dedicated to the promotion of a strong U.S.-Turkey relationship.

The conference, on October 31, 2011, is expected to draw several hundred Turkish and American government, business and military leaders.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will speak at the conference’s opening dinner of the Annual Conference on U.S.-Turkey Relations, hosted by the American-Turkish Council.

The theme of this year’s event, at the Washington Ritz-Carlton Hotel, located at 1150 22nd Street in Washington D.C. is “Honoring the Past, Building for the Future.”

Secretary Clinton’s remarks are expected to begin at approximately 7:45 p.m.

In addition to Secretary Clinton, other speakers include the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, and Minister of National Defense Ismet Yilmaz.

The citizens of Turkey just celebrated the 88th anniversary of the founding of the modern Republic of Turkey.

Sadly the recent earthquake in Turkey has left many Turks at the mercy of the weather, as freezing weather moves in.
