Crossfire War- Two Syrian Assassins Arrested in Lebanon

Crossfire War – DAMASCUS WATCH- West Asia Theatre: Damascus – Beirut – Tehran/Paris – Jerusalem – Rome; Lebanese Authorities Arrest Two Syrian Agents Planning to Assassinate 36 Senior Officials

Night Watch: BEIRUT – AKI reports that according to the Beirut daily Al-Mustaqbal, Lebanese authorities have arrested two agents carrying Syrian passports, sent by Damascus to assassinate 36 senior Lebanese officials. The paper is owned by the family of Rafik al-Hariri who was assassinated on February 14, 2005 in a massive car bomb attack on his motorcade just two weeks after crossfirewar.com reported Lebanon’s Defense Minister Adul Rahim Morad had visited Tehran. At the time of the assassination Syria Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otari was in Tehran. [AKI]

The arrested men are part of a continued – combined terrorist operation being conducted by Damascus – Tehran in their attempt to control Lebanon and remove what is left of the West’s influence in Beirut. The assassins said they were working for Abu Khaled El Amalah, the no. 2 man in the Fatah Intifada, a Palestinian armed group controlled by Damascus. Al-Mustaqbal also reported that Damascus has sent 200 Islamic militants to two Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, Al-Badwaii and Borge Al-Baragna. The 200 are to wait for instructions from Damascus.

Those instructions could be to begin terrorist’s attacks against Israel’s positions near the Golan Heights. Syria President Bashar Assad has been beside himself ever since the Hezbollah war against Israel. Bashar, in an excited, animated speech right after the August ceasefire, as if he had just been illuminated, said that he believed Hezbollah had won a great victory and it would therefore be easy for Syria to retake the Golan Heights lost to Israel in 1967.

Tehran may want to see war on a number of fronts in West Asia simultaneously engaging Israel in Lebanon – Golan – Gaza, Washington-London in Iraq, and UNIFIL in Lebanon.
