As the result of attending the recent Friends of the IDF fundraising gala event in Los Angeles and having the opportunity to meet and speak to several of the guest IDF soldiers, who were flown in to attend the event, I hereby salute you from the bottom of my heart for…
Defending the nation state of the Jewish people, Israel; when speaking to you I heard of your ultimate commitment to defend your homeland and that is so important to know after 2000 years of Jews being the target of any imaginable abuse that came to mind of people;
Being so devoted to your duty and being so patriotic. Whereby, when I served in the IDF, I was drafted because it was compulsory to serve but I always looked for ways to skip duty and have fun, from you I have learnt that your commitment to the task is what is the true call for duty; you always seek to give the best of yourself; you know you owe it to your country and you will not be dissuade;
Being so handsome and pretty, yet, modest and so very mature and responsible;
Being the future generation who will carry, with so much pride, the torch of Jewish heritage and the continuity of the nation into a better future; the world needs to know that Israel is not defined by the conflict, rather by the beautiful country Jews have built in these past 64 years; a true miracle that rose from the ashes of Auschwitz and Buchenwald;
Your courage and resolve that will not be broken;
For the opportunity to have met several of you; IDF sample warriors;
For going beyond duty; whether a girl of a boy, you give your country some of the best years of your life with pride, devotion and much will; and,
For being members of the most humane army in the world no matter what the world tries to pin on you..
The group of soldiers who partook in the FIDF gala, stand proud; you have represented the IDF and Israel the best one can.
As they say, Chazak Ve’ematz ve’she’nitchazek – be strong and brave so Israel can become ever so stronger, a leader among nations, light unto the nations.
I salute you, IDF and with me many others.
