Tennis Pro and Model Maria Sharapova Wins French Open

According to CBS NEWS, Maria Sharapova won the French Open in Paris, France on Saturday, June 9, 2012. She defeated Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 in the final for a career Grand Slam.

High profile athletes tend to endorse a variety of products. Tennis player Maria Sharapova is no exception, and her win catapults her even more into such endorsements by modeling in printwork and commercials.

Wiki states that Maria Sharapova, 25, is a Russian professional tennis player who has been a resident of the United States since 1994. She is ranked number one (World No. 1) in women’s tennis.

Sharapova has won WTA singles titles, including four Grand Slam singles titles at the 2004 Wimbledon, 2006 US Open, 2008 Australian Open, and the 2012 French Open. She has won the year-end WTA Tour Championships in 2004, as well as having been in seven Grand Slam finals with a record of 4-3.

This tennis pro’s career includes commercial endorsements, has been named one of the 50 most beautiful celebrities in the world, was ranked the hottest athlete in the world for the fourth consecutive year by Maxim, and she posed, alongside 25 supermodels, in a six-page bikini photoshoot spread in the 2006 Valentine’s Day issue of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
