Health is wealth. It becomes obvious that health is our highest value when facing a medical condition. For food, most people tend to go for the taste of a favourite meal which we can make taste the way we like it.

Unfortunately some people indulge in consuming things that are not healthy. Those things include highly refined junk food in plastic bags, cigarettes, caffeine, high fructose corn syrup etc.

Today, food service companies are aware of the daily growing demands for healthy meals. They are continuously looking for ways to leverage more vegetables and fruits as they are the cornerstones of a balanced diet.

In an effort to build a society with health life, physical fitness and good appearance, Europe works hard to implement a common agricultural policy.

Agriculture sectors can as well tackle climate change, promote sustainable measures and keep the rural economy alive. The European Union has been promoting an increase in food production, and they implemented a common agricultural policy back in 1962. This has become a political compromise for many countries on the continent since then and a there are plans to establish market unity, community preference, and financial solidarity.

The Common Agricultural Policy is the primary agricultural policy of the European Union. Its aim is to improve agricultural productivity, create a stable supply of affordable food, and ensure farmers can make a reasonable living (via income support and manage food security. Note that the EU says food production will need to double to meet the demands in 2050.

This shows how important Europe sees taking care of its community and environment.

Increased Demand

Across the Eurozone, there is an increased demand for locally produced food for consumption because many believe that local food production is highly superior to non-local food in terms of its impact on either climate or health.

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) beyond 2020, EU is planning for the next long-term budget for 2021-2027 and then 2050. They have recently proposed to re-evaluate and plan the future with a budget of €365 billion. (There was a press conference on this issue on 1 June 2018 in Brussels)

The proposals make sure that the CAP remains well-settled future policy.
The EU plans to continue to support farmers and rural communities to lead them to sustainable development of EU agriculture. This reflects the EU’s ambitions regarding environmental care and climate action.
