Germanwings Airbus_A320 Crashes in Alps

The foothills of the Southern French alps is the scene of a crash involving Germanwings flight 4U 9525 following a pilot-initiated Mayday emergency signal.

142 passengers and 6 crew members are thought to have been on the flight.

The crash took place in a remote area at approximately 2000 ft. altitude.

French President Hollande says survivors are unlikely.

Germanwings is the discount branch of Lufthansa.
