Execution of Prisoners on The Rise in Iran

Rising number of executions in Iran is to avert explosion of popular rage

In a group execution on Friday night, May 9, the anti-human clerical regime hanged 11 prisoners, including a woman, in Ghezel Hessar Prison. In the morning of this day, these prisoners clashed with the henchmen that were taking them to solitary confinement in preparation for this sentence. As such, the number of executions in the past 20 days reached seventy.

On May 8, a prisoner was publicly executed in the city of Saveh. He had been charged with murdering an element of the suppressive security forces. On May 7, three prisoners in Qom, one Kurdish prisoner in Sanandaj, and another Kurdish prisoner from Urumiyeh in the city of Hamadan were hanged.

On May 5, five prisoners in the central prison of Kerman and another prisoner in the prison of Semnan were executed.

On May 1, Navid Firouzian, 25, in Zahedan prison and in that same week Hamid Nouhtani in Gonbad-e Kavous prison were executed. Thirty-four other prisoners had been executed from April 21 to May 1 (Statement of the National Council of Resistance – May 2).

On April 20, another eleven prisoners had been executed in Ghezel Hessar Prison in Karaj.

The growing scale of executions in various cities in the country demonstrates the fright of the mullahs’ regime from the uprising of the Iranian people who are under extreme pressures.

Mullahs’ President Hassan Rouhani vividly expresses concern for the “low threshold of people’s tolerance” (Fars News Agency – May 6). Additionally, state-run media warn of “sensitivities at the boiling point”. Ebtekar daily, affiliated with fake reformist, wrote on May 10: “Everyone is talking about the low threshold of tolerance in the society and warns about the perils of such an state. the daily realities around us do confirm this danger. any wrong move in this circumstance is like a spark in the gunpowder depot.”
