Recently Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield, a former senior U.S. official, an academic and professional, said in a congressional hearing (1) that the scenario revealed by former UN Specialist Mr. Boumedra (2) cannot be squared with the US goals on the Ashraf issue.
“I think they are operating it directly at cross purposes, and that poses serious problems and serious risks. Some of the implications are that it puts the US in a horrific position of giving this population at Camp Ashraf essentially two choices:
Either go to a detention centre where you will be under the gun of those who massacred your friends and people around you or stay in the terrorist list maybe forever.” – Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield
It is a disgrace, a betrayal of everything America believes in.
A Betrayal Of Everything America Believes In
“It is a disgrace. It is a betrayal of everything America believes in. What we are talking about is the potential massacre of primed human beings and if that outcome happens it will not be because ‘we did not know that it was possible’, but it was simply made by overlooking the fact that the colonel who last oversaw the massacre was put in charge of their security… it is not about a mistake, it is about an intentional deal that has been made and kept from the American people… what we have is an immoral deal between our government and the mullahs’ dictatorship because all the indications are that’s what is driving this bad policy.”
– Republican Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs oversight and investigations subcommittee, September 13, 2012
It is absolutely dismal to drag readers through basic needs repeated in every single statement of the refugees in Camp Liberty when faced with theft; assault; harassment and duplicity by their counterpart; the Iraqi government.
Boumedra: Liberty Is A Detention Center
The “Boumedra”(3) historical whistle blowing together with a report released by the UN Working group on Arbitrary detentions establish an irrefutable truth:
The ironically called camp “Liberty” is none other than a detention centre and a pre-emptive base to dismantle Tehran’s thorn in the throat and main enemy and antithesis: MEK. The camps’ infrastructure fails to meet the minimum human rights standards. Apart from the unacceptable facilities and infrastructure, there is a lack of freedom of movement and of access to lawyers, journalists, and visitors. The on-site presence of armed Iraqi forces indicates that the minimum assurances of protection against harassment promised by the UN and US are not being met.
US Doesn’t Care That Iraq Causes Chaos On Ashraf
As explained by Ambassador Bloomberg in the congressional hearing recently, the Iraqi government being an element of the mullahs is hell-bent on creating friction and chaos in order to sabotage a relocation plan accepted by the residents while dubiously blaming issues on the residents.
Revelations (4) have exposed Iraqi government intentions to capitalize on utilizing the 500 million dollar furnished city of “Ashraf” as an attraction site for later use while forcing the residents to relinquish movable assets that have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars some millions of dollars, using various excuses.
UN Involved In Scandal
Mr. Boumedra’s shocking revelations have only shed light on the UN’s involvement in the scandal over the fate of the pro-democracy resistance movement of Mujahedin-e-Khalq.
The issue at stake in Iraq does not only affect the pro-democracy opposition force which is adamant about Democratic change in Iran, but painstakingly defuses and retards the positive interaction a healthy democratic Iraq could have in the region.
US State Department Not Acting In Good Faith
As well put by Senator Rohrabacher; The mullah dictatorship is not acting in good faith. It appears the government of Iraqi is not acting in good faith…(it) places a perpetrator of a massacre in charge of security of the same group of people who have been massacred; It certainly isn’t operating in ‘good faith’. The people know what they are doing, that leaves the US government. Are we operating in good faith? Is our state department operating in good faith?”
When reaching such depth of disputed morality Samuel Adams draws a red line which is echoed in history as the double edge of politics:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom – go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams, speech, Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776
