Somali Journalist Imprisoned By Al-Shabaab Extremists

Somali journalist was imprisoned by Al Shabab for two months now.

Mohamed Ali Mohamud, nicknamed “Madka” has been in jail for two months now after Al Shabab militia forces raided his house in the Karan district of north Mogadishu.

Al Shabab refuses to let the relatives of Mohamed visit him in jail.

Journalists gathered in Mogadishu today at a press conference where they condemned the extremist Al Shabab militia for the jailing of the journalist. They request for an immediate liberation of Mohamed Madka.

Jabriil Nur Jabra told the press during the meeting in Mogadishu that Madka is a hardworking and impartial journalist.

“We are very worried about the situation of our colleague Mohamed Madka, we have not heard anything about him in the last two months and we demand the freedom of our colleague.” said Jabra.

Mohamed Ali Madka is a senior journalist in Somalia. He has been working as a journalist for twelve years now.

Certain sources told newsblaze that Mohamed Ali Mahamud is currently imprisoned in the Hurwa jail in north east Mogadishu held by the extremists of Al Shabab.

Somalia is one of the most dangerous places in the world for journalists to work in.
