CANADA (Sasha Stoltz Publicity): Veteran daytime actress Tonya Lee Williams is the host of “One Night Only” with live performances from Imaan Faith, Infinite, Nadia Edwards, and DJ Blackirish. Williams is best known as principled and honorable Olivia Lee Winters on the #1 soap The Young & The Restless, a role she has played on and off since 1990. She was nominated this year for a NAACP Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series, a category she has won in 2000 and 2002.
Williams is also the creator of Reelworld, a Canadian film festival she founded in 2001 in direct response for the lack of positive diverse stories not being shown onscreen as well as promoting Canadian talent. Reelworld showcases the latest films, documentaries, animations, shorts, and music videos from budding Canadian directors who are looking for their break in the industry.
The festival will take place at the Cineplex Odeon Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton Street, Toronto) and the Scotiabank Theatres (259 Richmond Street West, Toronto) from April 15-19. Tickets start going on sale at the VIP Lounge upstairs at Jack Astor’s (133 John Street) — given the chance to pay the $125 pass for only $50!
