Days of Our Lives Comes to The Motor City

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives

DETROIT, MI: While some went to the COBO Center, hundreds of superfans and budding soap stars went to the MGM Grand Detroit most of Friday to meet and greet several fan favorites of NBC’s Days of Our Lives.

It is like coming home for fellow Grand Rapids resident Shawn Christian, who has been portraying Daniel “Dr. Feelgood” Jonas since last year. But Christian isn’t the only Days actor with roots to Michigan, for co-star Bryan Datillo (Lucas Roberts)’s family is also from Michigan. Also at the event were onscreen love interest Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Horton), James Reynolds (Abe Reynolds), and Shelley Hening (Stephanie Johnson).

The cast enjoys being at Motor City, especially Datillo due to his visit at the Ford Museum, as they visited several veterans at the VA Hospital two days before the talent and fan search on Veteran’s Day. While waiting in line to either audition and/or get an autograph of their favorite Salem resident, the cast were kind enough to take pictures and mentor rising young actors, which includes running lines with them for preparation: telling them to be themselves, have fun, and to relax.

People have been lining up all day for the opportunity to audition to win a part on NBC’s long-running daytime serial as well as the chance to win a fan contest that includes a trip to the set in Hollywood.

One of the fans included a trio of beautiful women that could pass for the Kardashians. They couldn’t stop talking about the recent storyline of Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) finally knowing that baby Sydney is her biological father – believing that this news will help reunite her with ex-husband EJ DiMera (James Scott). Another is a stunning 62-year-old woman who has been watching Days on and off since its premiere in 1965, and returned watching twenty years later when she was in a hospital bed because of a broken neck – realizing that nothing has changed.

While you’re a (secret) fan or not, there were men and women, black and white, young and old, etc., as Friday was the one of the Days of Our Lives.
