Negotiating With Terrorists, First Step To Failure

The idea that Hamas will find humanity in its heart indicates a failed mindset. Negotiating With Terrorists has long been a discredited course of action.

By definition, Hamas are evil people. You cannot reason with evil terrorists. You must defeat them, bring them to an unconditional surrender, or annihilate them.

President Trump’s Good Intent

I am sure we all appreciate Trump’s goal, which is to eliminate Gaza’s danger to Israel. This he would be able to accomplish if we allow him.

However, the question is what his real interest is. Is he interested in saving as many hostages as possible as he claims to thrive for?

So, yes, this is exactly what Trump has done since he issued the first ultimatum to Hamas and until now. The Biden administration in contrast, did not help to rescue a single hostage but forced Israel, with threats and weapons embargo or slow walk, to deliver humanitarian aid, in unheard quantities during war, to a hostile population.

So the intention to send Adam Buehler to hold direct talks with Hamas was good but not well thought through. To coordinate the release of all the hostages without giving Hamas anything in return was with good intent.

We must also bear in mind that Trump is not only in Israel’s corner. He also sees Israel as part of his destiny while holding two cards, the truth and common sense.

Assigning Adam Boehler Was Destined To Fail

Adam Boehler, who appears to be naïve and hubristic, is President Trump’s assignee as the special ambassadorial Envoy for Hostage Affairs. He crossed a red line. The U.S does not negotiate with terrorists.

Not really understanding the intricate position Israel found itself in regarding the hostages, Boehler publicly criticized the government of Israel in how it has been handling the crisis.

In phase one of the agreement, far from getting a good mark, Israel agreed to free some 2,000 terrorist inmates in return for the release of 33 Israelis –alive or dead. Along with his hubris Boehler said, “We wouldn’t do that deal in the United States.”

Negotiating With Terrorists

Boehler, far from having good diplomacy savvy, in his CNN interview, alluded to the fact that America’s interests in the negotiations and Israel’s differ: “We’re the United States. We’re not an agent of Israel. We have specific interests at play.” That raised the bar of apprehension in Israel to its highest level.

While Hamas leaders are leading the U.S by its nose, they are also laughing in the U.S. envoy’s face who says he is seeking to identify “human elements” in evil people who have no notion what “human elements” are.

In Israel the outrage is growing among those who understand the consequences of such an approach, especially the families of the Israeli hostages still in Hamas captivity.

Such negotiations in all likelihood will come to haunt the U.S. envoy and also could end up badly in all respects.

To add to his naiveté Boehler appeared on American and Israeli TV outlets to “explain” his work so far and his vision as the hostage newcomer but rather clueless “savior.”

Dismay In Israel And The U.S.

In Israel and in the United States people of influence could not figure out the reason why the United States is trying to extract civility from Hamas, which was seen by these terrorists as a victorious step.

In the meantime, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmsed Israel’s published dismay and the Boehler-Hamas direct contact failure, stating: “His [Boehler] direct dialogue with Hamas was a ‘one time event.’ He had the opportunity to speak directly with someone who was in control of the [Israeli] hostages, but for now ‘it has not borne fruit.'”

Hamas is taking its time. It has been given a month of Ramadan ceasefire gift from the government of Israel.

Sadly, it appears that the month of Ramadan is also sacred for the Netanyahu right-wing coalition government.

Boehler’s Terms of “Endearment”

Boehler entered the idea of direct talks with Hamas on the basis that he could try to identify human elements in these evil doers.

What human elements can one find in monsters whose organization’s charter calls for the destruction of Israel? In fact, the only reason for their existence is to destroy Israel.

His isea was to identify any human elements and then build from there. Is that likely in those who massacred 1,200 Israelis, burned, raped and brutalized others and have vowed to repeat the act if given the chance?

Boehler, a Trump loyalist, was overheard referring to the terrorists incarcerated in Israeli jails as “security prisoners.” Among them are mass-murderers and terror proliferators. A massive number of these prisoners are being exchanged for one Israeli – alive or dead- hostage.

Boehler was assigned to help expedite the release of the remaining in Hamas captivity Israeli hostages. He was heard in interviews, one on CNN, referring to the hostages – mostly civilians – abducted by Hamas terrorists and their minions on October 7, 2023, as “prisoners.”

One would think that in his important capacity Boehler would be careful to use the right terms. The abductees turned Hamas bargaining chips are not prisoners. They are victims of the terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Under pressure Boehler, who during his CNN interview twice used the phrase “nice guys” – “Look, they don’t have horns growing out of their head. They’re actually guys like us; they’re pretty nice guys” – when he discussed Hamas and the complexity of measures involved recognized the need to issue a clarification to his annoying jargon. He also claimed that his remarks were being misinterpreted.

The Man Of The Hour

Boehler’s naiveté in regards to Hamas’ ultimate intentions borders on dangerous consequences.

Hamas is trying to survive and thus is applying every measure that comes its way to its benefit. One such measure is their hostage ace card.

Hamas told the world that it would repeat October 7 as often as possible until Israel is destroyed.

And here comes Adam Boehler who thinks he knows better. He proclaimed his conviction to interviewer Yonit Levy on Israel Channel 12 that the genocidal bestial Hamas will ultimately be willing to give up their guns and take no role in Gaza’s political leadership; Hamas will end up melting away to no more being Hamas.

When Levy asked Boehler whether he “realistically” thinks “that Hamas would eventually agree to lay down its weapons and not be part of Gaza’s political future,” he answered without hesitation: “I do believe that.”

The only way this can possibly make any sense, is to throw Hamas one final lifeline to see if it is possible to discard their inbuilt evil. Their time is running out.

Mistaken Nomination

President Trump and Adam Boehler are on the same page regarding the hostages. Both want “to get these people [hostages] out.” President Trump believes in negotiations, always saying, “You have to negotiate.” In this case, “There’s a difference between negotiating and paying.”

To us, the outsiders, it appears that Boehler mishandled his mandate. He may be arriving at the same conclusion.

There is one main reason most serious people believe that a deal with Hamas is a waste of time. Hamas has never adhered to any deal negotiated directly or indirectly. Believing that Hamas will finally dignify itself and the disgrace that will ensue will be a slap in the face to the United States as it has been previously to Israel.

There is a deep concept gap between Adam Boehler and Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy. But it was President Trump who nominated this inexperienced man to in fact reward Hamas for its atrocious attack on October 7, by conducting a direct negotiation which gives them unprecedented legitimacy.

No End To The Circus

Trump wrongly inserted Boehler between Israel and the mediators, the human linkage to Hamas. Israel’s Prime Minister interjected to fill the caused vacuum.

In further negotiations with Hamas Netanyahu omitted David Barnea, Mossad (Israeli intelligence agency) chief and Ronen Bar Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head from being the negotiating team. Instead Ron Dermer, ostensibly speaking Trump’s language was installed. Yet, Dermer was blindsided by the president and his envoy Boehler.

President Trump must now relieve Israel and the U.S from the burden of Boehler as envoy. He, who interview after interview in which he was given a platform to explain what he has been up to, ended up having to publicly clarify that Hamas are indeed “BY DEFINITION BAD people.”

Confession

Using President Trump’s CAPITAL letter style, Boehler wrote, “I want to be CRYSTAL CLEAR as some have misinterpreted. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has murdered thousands of innocent people. They are BY DEFINITION BAD people. And as @POTUS has said, not a single Hamas member will be safe if Hamas doesn’t RELEASE ALL HOSTAGES IMMEDIATELY.”

When Jake Tapper asked Boehler what it was like for him, as a Jewish-American, to sit down with “anti-Semitic murderers?” Boehler replied, “You know what they’ve done, it’s hard not to think of it.” He then went on, not letting his naiveté leave his side, “[but] the most productive [approach], is to realize that every piece of a person is a human.”

Should I mention here the case of American journalist Daniel Pearl and his naiveté? Perhaps better not.
