The brutal homicide of motivational speaker, Travis Alexander, in Mesa, Arizona is one of the most difficult cases to comprehend. Travis was killed on June 4, 2008 in his own beautiful five-bedroom home, in his own master-bedroom, apparently, in his own bathroom shower. Travis’s body wasn’t discovered until five days later, on June 9, 2008, by two of his friends, even though decomposition had taken place, and a foul odor emanated from the bedroom.

I had to backup quite a bit, because I couldn’t find very many sources on the internet. I wondered why there weren’t a good number of news articles on Travis Alexander’s interesting case, or why some of the talk shows were just now starting to cover this fascinating story, even though it was out-dated news (3 1/2 years old). I finally did find one good article, Fatal Exposure by Shanna Hogan, published in Times Publications.
I just printed out Fatal Exposure and am leaning on it heavily, since it is well-written and a sizable amount of labor has gone into researching the case of Travis Alexander and oh you know, that zany woman, Jodi Arias. Thanks, Shanna Hogan! I’m aware of how much hard work is involved in putting a feature such as this together. The good thing, is that you can have it all to yourself, since nobody much is covering the story.
Nonetheless, the 48 Hours talking head interview with Jodi Arias is a must see, if you find yourself taking an interest in this Femme Fatale photographer. The way she chats so casually about her arrest for murder, her version of the disturbing events, or how she panders to the camera for her mug shot (since she knew it would go viral on the Internet), is not so easy to dissect, in terms of her psychological profile.
2008 Success For Travis Alexander
What I find so interesting, is the high levels of success that Travis was experiencing in 2008 come crashing down by midyear, when a lady with an obsession, just can’t allow him to dump her and continue on with his success. I’m not quite able to wrap my mind around this ‘psychological propensity of obsession,’ where splendid love morphs to wretched hatred in the wink of an eye, but I’m beginning to get flashes of it!
I’m not a psychologist, nor am I a criminal psychologist, but I’ve seen this sort of ‘sick emotional syndrome’ before, in movies and in True Crime annals. So it’s familiar to me. I recognize Jodi Arias as a spitting image of Alexandra Forrest (Glen Close), from the 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction, also starring Michael Douglas as the successful Dan Gallagher. In this analogy Travis is a fit for Dan.
Was Jodi Arias A Crazy Sociopath?
Some people, and especially a stark-raving mad sociopath, cannot deal with rejection. We’ll need to pull out this DVD again and study it carefully against a pile of documents we gather together, as we dig into the salient facts surrounding what happened to a young man in Mesa, Arizona, who seemed to be climbing his way to the top of the social ladder, or what we usually call The American Dream.
Another irony is that Jodi Arias is an attractive young lady and could just have easily gone her merry way to greener pastures of convivial relationships. Jodi’s singing is not too bad either. And from what I’ve seen of her photography, it wasn’t all that shoddy either. OBSESSION possessed her! Why do we human beings need to possess another person? To this day I quiver in my britches when picturing Glen Close grasping that huge butcher knife and thrusting it at poor Dan! Here lies the problem.
