These Three Simple Changes Will Improve Your Life

Happy New Year! As we ring in the new year, we tend to start off with resolutions. Goals that, for the most part, we never meet, but we feel great about making them. In general, these goals are designed to change our life, to make us successful, healthy, and all around better people. So, why is it that we tend to fail? Well, there are a few reasons. Nonetheless, making the three simple changes below, you’ll likely find that keeping your New Year’s resolution isn’t quite as difficult as it used to be.

Change #1: Changing The Way You Define Your Goals

One thing that they don’t tend to teach in school is how to properly set a goal. Sure, goals are set on a very broad basis, but therein lies the problem. The truth of the matter is that we are so used to looking at change from a broad perspective that on when it comes to what we actually want out of day to day life, most of us don’t know. In fact, it was T. Harv that once said:

“The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.”

You know that you want to get healthy or become successful, but what defines those actions? What exactly is healthy in your eyes? Does it have to do with weight loss? What about energy? If you want to become successful, what does success mean to you? The truth of the matter is that when asked for details on what people truly want, more than you may think are at a loss for words.

Change #2: Learn Not To Cry Over Spilled Milk

We all face problems in our lives, and when they come, they tend to change the way we do just about everything. Often times, when people set goals for themselves, the failure has little to do with the actual path to the goal and more to do with emotional responses to something outside the path. The truth of the matter is that many of the problems that the average consumer struggles with are actually relatively small in the big scheme of things. Russell Ruffino once said:

“Don’t make your problems bigger than they are, because most of the time, they are imaginary. And the ones that aren’t? Are solvable.”

At the end of the day, when problems come up, most of them are something that really isn’t going to change anything unless you let it. Those few that actually will lead to adverse changes can just about always be fixed!

Change #3: Focus On What You Love

As consumers, we all tend to want more. While no one wants to admit the presence of greed, it is there in just about everyone. However, when greed is allowed to make choices, the choices generally lead to an upsetting outcome. If you want to change the way you live, try letting go of some of that greed and following your passions. Warren Buffett once said:

.” ..not doing what we love in the name of greed is very poor management of our lives.”

The truth of the matter is that when you focus on your passion, you tend to live a wealthier, healthier and more fulfilling life!

Final Thoughts

As human beings, we tend to be habitual creatures. So, making the above changes in your life may seem a bit difficult in the beginning. However, with every passing day, these changes will become a force of habit, and once that habit is formed, your chances of reaching your goals will be exorbitantly higher!
