Harry Reid: Taxpayers’ Favorite Hypocrite Strikes Again

Harry Reid strikes again

There have been many speculating on what will be the situation when Obamacare is fully enacted on January 1, 2014. Most of those voicing their doomsday opinions have been Republican senators and congressmen.

But a surprising critic spoke up Wednesday morning to the shock surprise of many Democrats. It was none other than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. To the astonishment of many in Washington, it appears that Reid, like his colleague, Democrat Max Baucus, feels the Affordable Care Act will be “a train wreck” if not properly implemented.

Many are scratching their heads as to why the Senate Majority Leader would say such a thing. Is it to cover his tracks from yesteryear when he was a champion of the law, like his House colleague, Nancy Pelosi?

What Does Sen. Reid Know?

What does Sen. Reid know that the rest of America doesn’t about the controversial and highly unpopular health care law?

Whatever his motivation, Reid said “Max said unless we implement this properly it’s going to be a train wreck and I agree with him,” Reid told radio host Rusty Humphries.

Two weeks prior to Reid’s statement, Baucus had told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius the health care law was far from ready for full implementation.

As Baucus told Sebelius at a Senate committee hearing, “I just see a huge train wreck coming down. You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.”

But Harry Reid being Harry Reid, he blamed Republican opposition to the health care law as the reason for the “train wreck” language. Apparently Reid thinks the Republicans have been guilty of not allowing enough money to implement the law.

Huh?

Less-Important Aspects

Reid added that because of the Republican intransigence, “less-important aspects” of the Obamacare law will be defunded so the president can go directly to the public with his plea for more assistance from the opposition.

In other words, millions of taxpayer dollars will be spent for a public relations campaign that includes print, radio and TV.

During a radio talk show interview, Reid said “I wish we had the money just to do this on its own, but he’s agreed, he’s determined he’s going to take money from some of the other things that he feels are less important in the healthcare bill and put it on letting you and others know what’s in the bill. And what they can do to either accept parts that would be helpful to them, or not.”

Health Insurance Shouldn’t Go to Rich People

Reid further said, “I believe that a country of our size, the only superpower left in the world, it’s not right that we have 50, 60 million . . . people with no health insurance. We have a program where health insurance shouldn’t go to the people that are rich, people who are upper-middle class. I believe the middle class and people who are below the middle class deserve to go to the hospital when they are sick. You shouldn’t have to declare bankruptcy when you have a traffic accident or some dreaded disease hits your family.”

As the deadline of January 1 grows closer, it will be interesting to see how many Democrats running for re-election in November, 2014 will distance them from the apparent train wreck that is coming down the tracks?

I Told You So

How many Republicans are already saying, “I told you this would be the end result.”
