What’s Special about Sue Harrison’s New Novel ‘Rescuing Crash, the Good Dog’?

Widely acclaimed author Sue Harrison has published her latest novel Rescuing Crash, the Good Dog with the Modern History Press of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The book features the journey of a shelter dog who brings joy and healing to the broken hearts of a family.

Sue Harrison’s Rescuing Crash, the Good Dog is a novel for middle-grade readers. The book engages young readers with a heartwarming story of dog adoption from a local shelter. Crash, the eponymous Australian shepherd, is brought home to 11-year-old Britta by her single Dad as a birthday gift. As Crash becomes a member of the family, adventures and healing go hand in hand for Britta and her new friend.

A native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and currently living in Pickford, Harrison’s novels have collectively sold over two million copies. Her books have seen recognition and critical acclaim in academic spheres as well as among popular readership, both nationally and internationally. For young adult readers, she has previously published the books Mother Earth Father Sky and Sisu.

Rescuing Crash, the Good Dog is Harrison’s first book featuring a pet rescue story that was inspired by actual rescue stories in her personal life. She credits her parents for the love and compassion for animals they passed on to her.

“My parents rescued animals—sometimes injured wild animals that they would release back into the wild after recovery,” recalls Harrison. “They instilled in me and my four siblings the joy of nurturing, and all of us continue to do what we can for animals now in our adult lives.”

Sue Harrison’s compassion for animals has become an integral part of her life’s philosophy.  Helping the animals in shelters remains on her mind on an average day and she shares the urge for doing more for them. In her words:

“Shelters across the nation are overflowing with animals in need of homes. Even if people are unable to adopt, they can volunteer time to help local shelters and/or donate supplies and money to help shelters maintain their services.”

Rescuing Crash Supports Shelter

In line with this mission, a portion of the proceeds from Rescuing Crash, the Good Dog will be donated to her local shelter.
