Donna Every: The Promise Keeper

GG: Why did you name your book The Promise Keeper?

DE: The book is called The Promise Keeper because it demonstrates the faithfulness of God to keep all His promises. I’ve used my own testimony to share how he is faithful and how he kept his promises to me and will do so to all of us who believe.

GG: How will this book help people in their walk and relationship with God — especially during this Great Recession?

DE: We have many promises from God even concerning times like the Great Recession.

For example, He says in Ps 37:19, “In times of disaster they will not wither, in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.” In Ps 128:1-2, he says: “Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.”

We can therefore be confident in the Lord and use scriptures such as these to encourage us in hard times.

This book shares how God came through for me to help me get my work published ten years after writing my first book. It will help people to persevere in difficult times, to trust in God and be obedient to him and to grow in faith.

GG: How is The Promise Keeper different than your last book?

DE: My last book was focused on dealing with hard financial times, whether we’re in a recession or not. It is a very practical book about what to do to help get yourself out of a financial crisis. This book is more about developing our relationship with God, learning to trust in him in any circumstance and seeing him come through for us as he has promised.

GG: Would you say that writing this book is semi-autobiography: a personal labor of love to you and your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?

DE: Absolutely! I wanted to share my story with other believers because I know that many of us go through the same experiences. God doesn’t have favorites so if he came through for me, this will be an encouragement to those who are still waiting for promises to be fulfilled, that he will also come through for them.

GG: What do you hope your readers will get out of this once reading this book?

DE: First of all, a greater understanding of why they may be going through certain trials, encouragement to persevere through them and most important, to develop a closer walk with God.

The book is currently available from Tate Publishing, but the official release date is April 27, 2010.
