Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday immediately following Black Friday, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States. The term made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled “‘Cyber Monday’ Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year”
But are the deals really worth waiting for? It appears that most online retailers offered huge discounts and great deals on Black Friday to compete with retail outlets. All retailers (online and retail outlets) are starting to offer discounts and deals earlier every year to attempt to grab consumers before their competitions.
This year, more retail stores were opened on Thanksgiving than the previous year. Online deals started popping up as early as the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. In the past, Cyber Monday always offered consumers huge discounts, but this year, the better discounts took place on Black Friday.
If this trend keeps up, will Cyber Monday be around in another 5 years?
