California. Is it now a third world country?

In some ways what has just happened in California where the voters keep demanding more services from the government but refuse to pay more taxes, would be classified as clinically insane in an individual.

By that I mean that they keep doing the same thing over and over but expect different results.

However, I want to pose a different thought.

Californians may just be the SMARTEST people in the U.S., if also the greediest.

Think about it.

For decades they have gotten the best of everything while running their state into a catastrophic financial situation. But they got theirs!

If California were a country like Germany in the 1920’s or Somalia, or ancient Rome, of some other country or empire where bread and circuses were under the control of people who aren’t willing to pay the price of admission, then it would be really, REALLY stupid.

But that is only because those people couldn’t leave.

People in California are free to destroy their state and simply move to another part of the U.S.

Many might be betting that “the big one” (the major earthquake predicted for southern California by virtually every geologist in the world) will hit before the waiter brings the final bill.

Others can see disaster when it stares them in the face, and are leaving the state in droves and will, if allowed to concentrate in some other single state, will probably embark on the same sort of idiocy.

People in many southern states are already panicked over Mexicans fleeing poverty and poor government services.

Soon people in California’s financially solvent bordering states may take a clue from what California did in the 1930’s dust bowl era and start turning away Californians fleeing the disaster they created. Remember “The Grapes of Wrath?”

After all, if, as Dr. Phil always says, “The best predictor of future action is past action,” why would, say, Oregon, Nevada, or even distant Utah, welcome refugees from Sacramento and San Diego?

But look at it from the viewpoint of people who enjoyed sunny California for the past few decades.

When you strip away all the propaganda, people in California have had an incredibly good life – they just weren’t willing to pay for it so it is now going away – for now they can simply go away also.

They got theirs; laughing all the time at all the hicks in the rest of the country, and they showed in yesterday’s vote that they are now perfectly willing to let the rest of us pick up the check.
