Go Now: Octomom, Heroes, 90210, and Motown

Hello, there! This is Garrett Godwin, and it is time to Go Now once again, where I bring the latest on what’s been happening. So, let’s get started, shall we?

  • The story of the Octomom known as Nadya Suleman continues on, when she comes to Entertainment Tonight for the first time confronting her mother and talking to Dr. Phil on the decision that is leaving everyone taking sides: to have the overwhelming task of raising 14 children. It is an exclusive first look on ET starting tonight with Octograndma Angela Suleman, and then with Dr. Phil the next evening, so check your local listings; you can find out more at http://et.msn.com.
  • Last night was the start of the “Cold Wars” on Heroes, as the question of whether Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman) — aka Horn-Rimmed Glasses — is either a hero or a villain has been answered. Noah is a man comfortable with being “morally gray,” for he’s not one way the bad guy nor one way the good guy; he’s both, as he does bad things for sometimes the right reasons yet is willing to do good things for the right reasons sometimes. Still, if you’re not sure or miss it, then go online to Heroeswebsite on NBC.
  • First, the CW Network has brought back 90210, and now they’re planning on doing the same with Melrose Place. Another popular FOX drama of the 1990s, Melrose was originally a 90210 spin-off about earnest twentysomethings living at an apartment complex in California. Yet once Heather Locklear moved in to bring some heat, the series became Dynasty for that decade. So far, a pilot has been green lighted but no word so far on when it’ll go into production. In the meantime, you can find seasons 1-4 as well as the first half of season five of the original Melrose now on DVD.

    Black History Month

  • On January 12, 1959, Detroit became the birthplace for Motown Records created by Berry Gordy, which launched the careers of several artists and supergroups such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Jackson 5, and much more with classics such as “My Girl,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” and “ABC.” Motown came during the height of the civil rights movement for African-Americans with a sound that appeals to both black and white people — changing both the Motor City and the world of popular music forever.
  • In the year 1984, the artist still known as Prince was at his reign with Purple Rain. The film grossed $70 million at the U.S. box office, and its Grammy-winning soundtrack spent 24 weeks at the top of the charts — spawning several chart-topping hits such as “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy” (both went to #1). The title track was named “Best Original Song” at the 1985 Academy Awards.
  • Arsenio Hall hold his own against Johnny Carson when he became the first African-American actor-comedian to have his own late night talk show, which aired from 1989-94. The Arsenio Hall Show aimed at not only an urban audience, but it also appealed to a wider audience as well. One of the trademarks the show was the “Woof, woof, woof!” yelling by the audience while pumping their fists in a circular motion. The Arsenio Hall Show was also known for having then-Presidential candidate Bill Clinton on the show performing “Heartbreak Hotel” on the saxophone, which became one of the most unforgettable moments on television and some said it led to Clinton being elected as President in November 1992.

    Nightly TV Listings

  • At 8pm on CBS, head west with NCIS, as Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Tony (Michael Weatherly) search for a woman who may hold the key to help solve the murder of a fellow agent.
  • Then at 9pm on all three networks comes President Barack Obama’s address to Congress, in which he discuss his ongoing plans to help rebuild the staggering economy.
  • On TNT at 10pm is the freshman finale of the new hit Leverage, in which Nate (Timothy Hutton) and the team are separated, as they struggle to reunite while trying in the process stay one step ahead of his former boss and Sterling. The series has been renewed for a second season, and will on TNT this summer. If you want to join the Leverage team and learn how to get even, then go to their website.

And that is all the time we have here, so thanks for joining me. But don’t forget to check out the latest right here on Newsblaze (NB).
