Syrian National Coalition Visits Iranian Resistance

Camp Liberty Residents and the Iranian people are not the only ones abandoned by world powers. Syrians and the Syrian National Coalition are in the same position. The weakness and timidity of the west resulted in appeasement towards Iran’s hegemony. That appeasement and weakness has led to the deaths of people who thought the US, the EU and the UN would help them.

That help would not come in any meaningful way. What did come was verbal expressions of “outrage.” But outrage has no value to the people being attacked by unbridled aggression. It only serves as encouragement for the aggressors.

Nobody expects the US to fight all their battles, but they also don’t expect US foreign policy to actively work against them.

On Friday, in Paris, there was a meeting between a high-ranking Syrian opposition delegation and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance.

Haitham al-Maleh, Chairman of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces’ legal committee issued a very important statement.

Mrs. Rajavi praised the heroism of the Syrian people, noting especially the residents of Aleppo. Aleppo has been devastated by the forces of Bashar al-Assad, in plain view of Western powers, who have done nothing to stop the attacks on defenceless civilians.

Mrs Rajavi said, “while global powers have either stood on the side of the murderer or remained passive, the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the past six years promises the certain victory of the Syrian people and the Syrian revolution.”

Statement by Chairman of the legal committee of Syrian National Coalition

On Saturday, June 11, 2016, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the Iranian Resistance, welcomed a group of Syrian personalities and opposition officials and leaders at her residence north of Paris. Ms. Suheir Attassi, member of the High Negotiations Committee; Ms. Nagham Ghadri, member and former Vice Chairman of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces; Dr. Taghrid al-Hagli, former Minister for Culture of the Syrian Interim Government; Haitham al-Maleh, Chairman of the legal committee of the National Coalition; Michel Kilo, prominent writer and journalist and Political Committee member of the National Coalition; Dr. Nasr Al-Hariri, former Secretary-General of the National Coalition; Ghassan Aboud, a Syrian opposition businessman and founder of Orient Media; Brigadier General Abdullah Bashir Noeimi, a former chief of staff of the Free Syrian Army; Brig. General Mesghal Al-Batish Noeimi and Brig. General Mustafa Sheikh, commanders of the Free Syrian Army; and Mr. Ahmad Kamel, press advisor of the National Coalition; were present in the meeting.

In this meeting, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi hailed the heroism of the Syrian people, especially residents of the devastated city of Aleppo, and said that while global powers have either stood on the side of the murderer or remained passive, the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the past six years promises the certain victory of the Syrian people and the Syrian revolution. The Assad regime and its main supporter, the religious fascism ruling Iran, would not be able to escape from this defeat.

Mr. Michel Kilo, prominent in the Syrian opposition, said the Iranian regime sent around 80,000 of its Revolutionary Guards and other mercenaries into the war against Syrians. Most recently, about 1600 Revolutionary Guards have been killed.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi declared solidarity between the Iranian Resistance and the resilient people of Syria. She also praised the heroism of Syria’s people.
