Guwahati, January 17 (IBNS): Security forces apprehended two hardcore militants from the dreaded National Democratic Front of Bodoland Sanbijit faction (NDFB(S)) in two separate operations in Assam’s Baska and Kamrup districts on Saturday, a defence spokesperson said.

The Guwahati-based defence spokesperson said that based on information from the Gajraj intelligence unit, the Army launched an operation in the Dongmari Habibari area under Tamulpur police station in Baska district, and apprehended a hardcore NDFB(S) militant.

The Army recovered two live grenades, a large number of mobile phones, and SIM cards from one arrested militant, identified as Dipak Boro, alias Dwantham.

A separate operation launched by the Army Red horn division, resulted in the arrest of another extremist of the rebel group from Mirza near the Palasbari area in Kamrup district.

The militant was identified as Dev Mondal and troops recovered two detonators, foreign currency, and extortion notes from him.

In the past 72 hours, security forces apprehended 13 militants including five of the most wanted NDFB(S) militants who were involved in the recent massacre in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district, that left more than 80 people dead.

Sushanta Roy reports that an NDFB(S) Section Commander, Jamba Narzari, responsible in the recent genocide of Adavasi community people in Assam’s BTAD area, was arrested by Khotkati police of Karbi Anglong district last Wednesday. Jamba Narzari was located in the Lahorijan locality situated on the Assam-Nagaland border.

According to police, Jamba Narzari is son of Sai Ram Basumatery, a resident in the Kaki area of Assam’s Nagaon district. He was planning to escape to Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland to regroup with two other fleeing cadres of the outfit who have been on the run since the launching of “operation all clear” by the Indian army a fortnight back. Police recovered one .22 pistol and 7 live bullets, two cell phones and 6 SIM cards from Narzari.

Later, based on the confessional statement by Jamba Narzari, security forces arrested three more cadres of the NDFB (Sanbjit faction) from Kohima on Thursday.
