Powerful IED Recovered In Upper Assam
Security forces on Friday evening recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Assam’s Sivsagar district, officials said.
According to reports, security forces recovered the IED weighing 2 kilograms in front of Mahavir oil mill in Sivsagar town.
“Suspected militants had planted the IED for explosion in the oil rich Upper Assam town,” a top police official said.
Police and army officials and a bomb squad team rushed to the area and vacated civilians from the area.
In an unrelated incident, two NDFB (S) militants were arrested in a remote area of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, police said on Sunday.
The arrests came as Operation All Out, led by the Indian army continued against the Bodo militants who killed at least 81 innocent Adivasi people including 23 Children in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts on December 23.
According to reports, police and CRPF had launched a joint operation, led by Biswanath Chariali SP Manabendra Debroy against NDFB (S) militants in the inter-state bordering areas on Saturday.
“Security forces nabbed two militants from Namari village along the inter state border with Arunachal Pradesh,” a top police official said.
The two arrested militants were identified as Nakul Narzary and Raju Rabha.
