Guwahati, December 29 (IBNS) : Last Monday, Security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district apprehended a top Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militant and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition, police said.
Based on intelligence received, police and army jointly launched an operation in the Borlangso area near Chakihola in the hill district. They located and arrested KPLT Finance Secretary Sarpo Terang.
Karbi Anglong district SP, Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta, said security forces recovered one AK-81 rifle, one Lethod gun, five Lethod shells, 61 rounds of live ammunition from the financier.
In a separate incident, army troops of Red Horn division on Monday apprehended two MULTA militants in Dhubri district.
A Defence spokesperson said based on army intelligence, troops launched an operation in the Daobhangi area of Dhubri district and arrested the two militants.
Army personnel recovered two US-made pistols and several rounds of live ammunition from the militants.
