Tonya Lee Williams Nominated for 2010 NAACP Image Award

TORONTO (Sasha Stoltz Publicity): The press conference for The 2010 NAACP Image Awards was held last Wednesday at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Ms. Williams was nominated in the Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Series category, for her role as Dr. Olivia Winters on the top-rated CBS daytime soap, “The Young and The Restless.” A fan favorite, Ms. Williams has portrayed the character on and off for twenty years, a role that has previously garnered her two NAACP awards in 2000 and 2002.

The NAACP Image Awards is the nation’s premier event celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts (motion picture, television, recording, and literature), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.

The 41st NAACP Image Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Friday, February 26 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT Tape-Delayed) on FOX.

Recently, Williams wrapped up work on a Lifetime movie, “Double Wedding,” also starring Tia and Tamara Mowry. She is presently recurring as Octavia Jones, a senior U.S. Department of Homeland Security agent, on the CBC nighttime drama “The Border.”

What began as a small festival has since garnered international attention. ReelWorld Film Festival will be celebrating its 10th year on April 7-11, 2010 in Toronto.
