Bus Accident Kills Seven, Injures 27 in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, Sept 29: Seven persons were killed and twenty seven others injured, some critically, when a passenger bus they were traveling in, veered off the road near Pranu on the Jammu-Bhadarwah road, this morning. Pranu is in the mountainous district of Jammu and Kashmir, about 190 km from Jammu.

The ill-fated bus was on it’s way to Jammu from Bhadarwah, when the accident occurred, around 6.30 am.

Officials said that a Video coach Bus, on it’s way to Jammu, skidded off the road and into a stream, a few kilometers from Pranu, killing seven persons on the spot and injuring twenty seven others.

The injured have been taken to Hospitals and the critically injured are being airlifted to Jammu.

Police and security forces reached the site of the crash and launched an operation immediately to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies.

“Five people died on the spot while twenty seven others were wounded”, a senior police officer said adding the injured have been shifted to Hospital.

Sources quoting eyewitnesses said five of the injured were in critical condition and they were being taken to Jammu for special treatment.

The identities of the deceased and injured were not available immediately.
