Unusual Russian House Quilt Makes its Way to Folsom

Cities across the US partner with other cities a world away, using The Sister Cities concept launched by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. In much the same way, craft guilds often link up with guilds far away.
The quilts at the Folsom History Museum are primarily antique quilts, but one very unusual quilt was so unique it was accepted into the collection. The quilt, a collective work by the Patchwork Mozdle Guild of Ivanovo, Russiais is titled "Oh My Village, Far Away and Wooden".
In 2001, the River City Quilt Guild of Sacramento and the Patchwork Mozdle Guild of Russia exchanged quilts. Each group had created a special one-of-a-kind quilt for the other to enjoy. This quilt was shown in a couple of local Guild Quilt Shows and hung in a variety of members' homes. In 2008, it was donated to the Folsom History Museum by the guild.
The Folsom History Museum is always looking for vintage quilts to add to our collection, so if you know of someone who is looking for a good home for a quilt, the Museum Says they would appreciate the consideration and preserve it for future generations. The City of Folsom has established two sister city relationships, over the past ten years. Thr first was with Jiaohe City, Jilin Province, Peoples's Republic of China on December 14, 1999 and the second was Crespano del Grappa, Italy on September 29, 2000.
