US Congress Delegation Calls on Kashmir Governor

Srinagar, Nov 10: A delegation of US Congress led by Mac Thornberry, Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, currently on a week long visit to India, called on the Governor of Indian administered Kashmir N.N. Vohra in the winter capital of the region on Thursday evening.

“The US delegation comprised Devin Nunes, Congressman and Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), Political Counselor, US Embassy Herro Mustafa and two staff members of the HPSCI,” an official spokesman said.

He said during their meeting, the Governor and the visiting US delegation discussed issues of mutual security interest.

Sources said the Governor apprised the visiting US delegation about the security situation of the region. He apprised them about the measures being taken to ensure peace in the region. He also apprised the visiting US delegation about the measures being taken by security agencies to counter “proxy war” unleashed by Pakistan in the region.
