Six Arrested for Rape Charges in Assam

Physically challenged women and 13-year-old girl raped in Assam: six persons including two CRPF jawan arrested

After arresting a veteran Congress leader, police on Friday arrested six persons including two CRPF jawans for alleged involvement in two separate rape cases in Assam.

Police arrested two CRPF jawans on Friday for allegedly raping a physically challenged woman in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

The incident took place at Chauldhowa area, where four CRPF jawans allegedly raped a physically challenged woman on Thursday night.

After the incident local villagers managed to catch a CRPF trooper and others fled.

On Friday, villagers raised their voice for the rape case and demanded stern action against the culprits.

Police arrested two CRPF personnel named Mohan Singh and Dharmendra Yadav.

The accused security personnel were presented before the court.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by four persons in Tinsukia district.

The incident took place at Sukanphukhuri tea estate under Makum police station in the district on Thursday night.

Police arrested all the accused persons named Tusu Mali, Sanesh Nayak, Tirnath Mali and Ram Chandra Patnaik on Friday.

On January 3, a veteran Congress leader of Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts (BTAD) was arrested by police for allegedly raping a woman in lower Assam’s Chirang district.
