Suspected militants of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) torched 14 coal laden trucks at Bagasi area along the Assam-Meghalaya border in Goalpa district on Saturday evening, police said.
The incident took place at NH-62 near Bagasi area under krishnai police station on Saturday evening.
“A nine members armed group of GNLA opened fire and later torched the coal laden trucks,” a police official said.
“In this attack, a truck driver was injured and he was admitted near the local hospital,” police added.
Thirteen trucks were gutted, where villagers doused the flames on one of the trucks after the militants left from the spot.
Senior police officials and army rushed to the spot and a search operation launched for nab the militants.
