Militants Killed In Three Operations, NDBF(S) Camp Busted in Kokrajhar

Guwahati, May 8 : On Thursday night, Assam Security forces attacked a major NDFB(S) hideout in the Kokrajhar district of Assam, and one of their militants was killed during the encounter, police said.

The slain militant was identified as Busha Brahma alias Bushum.

Based on intelligence received, the army, Assam Police and SSB launched a joint operation led by BTAD IGP Dr LR Bisnoi in the jungle area of West Leupani Nala in Chirang Reserve Forest, three km from Ultapani village in Kokrajhar district.

Dr LR Bisnoi said “It is suspected that some top leaders of NDFB(S) who were in charge of Adivasis massacre on Dec 23 last year, were in the group with whom contact was established.”

After the encounter, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the area around the hideout. The weapons recovered included one factory made 7.65mm Pistol, one country made Rifle, 200 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 14 grenades, 150 Kg of rations, a large number of blankets and other war like stores from the hideout area.

“The operatives of Gajraj Military Intelligence were tracking the terrorist since a considerable time and on confirmation of his presence in the area got the successful operation launched leading to decimation of the dreaded terrorist,” the defence spokesman said.

Security forces recovered a 7.62mm Pistol and a large quantity of ammunition from the deceased terrorist.
