Is Tarun Gogoi Creating Space for Maoists in Assam?

Team Anna member and leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday blamed Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for creating a ground space for Maoists to operate their illegal activities in the state of Assam.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said Gogoi’s government has supported an anti-democratic policies and created a circumstance for the armed rebels and Maoists to dwell in Assam.

Akhil Gogoi noted that in the democratic movement protest against the big dam construction, KMSS and other organizations had took part in the movement and raised their voices on the issue.

However, Mr. Akhil Gogoi pointed out that the state government had been trying to controlled the issue by using security forces.

Last week, a team of state police and CRPF assaulted an anti-dam activists and destroyed a camp in Lakhimpur, which is one of the anti-democratic policies taken by the state government,” Akhil Gogoi said.

“If the state government would not stopped their policies, strength of the left wings movement will be stronger in the state,” KMSS leader said.

The KMSS leader also demanded an iquiry into the recent power crisis in the state.
