Huge Cache Arms and Ammunitions of GNLA Recovered in Assam

Guwahati city police on Saturday recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions and arrested six persons including a cadre of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in Guwahati, police said.

Reports say a team of Guwahati city police launched a search operation at Gorchuk area in the city and recovered the arms and ammunitions.

“The arms were carried out from the Tamu area in Manipur,” SSP of city police Apurba Jiban Baruah saidhe said.

Police recovered one AK-74 rifle with four magazines, 25 live shells, one Berreta Topket pistol with 20 rounds of live ammunitions, 400 live ammunitions of AK-47 rifle, 500 live ammunitions of 9mm pistol.

Police arrested six persons involved with the arms deal with the militants.

The nabbed persons were identified as Pangam Hangkle, Ritesh Basumutary, Denish Marak, Pintu Marak, S Sangma.

During the police interogation Pintu Marak revealed that he is a cadre of GNLA and closed relation the c-in-c of the outfit.
