Celebration of Republic Nepal, NY, USA

Nepali Janasamparka Samiti America, NY Chapter organized a tea-reception to celebrate the declaration of Republic of Nepal, a historic achievement of Nepali citizens.

The group salutes their heroes, martyrs, leaders and brave Nepalis who made this day possible.

The tea- reception was held in the Conference Hall of Satya Narayan Mandir, Woodside, New York on Wednesday 28th of May 2008. The program started at 7:45 pm.

The program was presided over by Somnath Ghimire, President of NJSSA, NY Chapter and the Chief Guest was HE Madhuraman Acharya, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations. In the 11th hour invitation, more than 70 distinguished members of NY Nepali community were present; among them were Madhuban Poudel Nepal Mission’s DPR, NC Mahasamiti member Kancha Lama, Khagendra GC Founder member & Advisor of NJSSA, Election Commissioner of Hartford Convention’s election Dr. Govinda Koirala, another founder member of NJSSA Mridula Koirala, Central Vice-President Mingmar Sherpa, Central Members Namlal Shrestha , Munindra Nembwang, Central Member & Org. Dept. Chief Banshalal Tamang, Binod Roka Attorney at Law, Binaya Kant Chaudhary Secretary of ANTA, Lab Budha Magar General Secretary of Langhali Association USA, Anil Shahi President of Alliance for Democracy & Human Rights in Nepal, USA, Indra Tamang, NY chapter’s Advisors & President of Tamang Society of America, Advisors of NY Chapter Sanjaya Parajuli & Harish Ch. Hamal, V-Presidents of NY Chapter duo Ram Ch. Regmi & Pemba Sherpa, NY Chapter’s Secretary Phurba Sherpa, NY Chapter’s Executive members Rosan Kumar Dhungana, Lakpa Gelu Sherpa, Sharada Chhetri, active members of NJSSA Narbada Chhetri, PG Sherpa, Tshering Sherpa, Kershang Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Chhul Bahadur Tamang, Janes Gurung, Journalists Pradeep Thapa Magar and Bishwa Shah.

The program started with one minute prayer of remembrance to our martyrs and then the National song was sung by all.

Narbada Chhetri sang a welcome republican song and Ram Ch. Regmi made a welcome speech.

Other speakers were HE Madhuraman Acharya, Mingmar Sherpa, Banshalal Tamang, Khagendra GC, Dr. Govinda Koirala, Sanjay Parajuli, Pemba Sherpa, Dr. Tara Niraula, Anil Shahi, Bishwa Shah, Haris Chandra Hamal, Sharada Chhetri. All speakers exchanged their greetings & happiness to this historic achievement.

The program was moderated by Munindra Nembang.

NY Chapter’s President, Somnath Ghimire adjourned the program at 9 pm.

After that everybody danced for an hour celebrating the declaration of Federal Democratic Republic Nepal.
