Body of Abducted Government Official Found in Assam

An abducted government official body was found near Boitamari in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on Thursday morning.

Reports say two agriculture officers were abducted at gun point by armed militants from Baitamari area on Wednesday night.

“The incident took place at Boitamari on Wednesday night. Two Assam government officials of the agriculture deparment were abducted at gun point by armed men when they were on the way to Bongaigaon from Dhubri,” Bongaigaon SP Nitul Gogoi said.

The abducted government officials were identified as Gadapani Pathak and Faijul Islam.

“The armed men also took away the officials’ vehicle and attacked the driver,” police said.

The injured driver, Nur Islam, was rushed to the local hospital.

After the abduction, police launched a search operation to trace the abducted persons.

On Thursday morning, local people found a body near Boitamari and later he was identified as Gadapani Pathak.

Security forces launched search operation at the area to look for the other abducted government official.
